How Long Does it Take to Restore a Damaged Lawn?

When a lawn becomes damaged, it can take a while to recover based on several factors. Depending on the steps taken to repair, it can take quite a few years to see thick and lush results.

Learn about damaged lawns and how we at Greener LawnScapes can repair them with our lawn care services in College Station, Bryan, and surrounding areas within the Brazos Valley.

There are a few ways your Brazos Valley lawn can become damaged. To avoid lawn damage and be proactive, keep an eye out for signs of these common problems:

  • Lawn diseases will show up in brown patches or spots on the grass blades. A lawn disease can quickly spring up overnight. If you see any brown patches or spots on the grass, you need to contact a lawn care company immediately. Diseases in our area of Texas include brown patch, gray leaf spot, and take-all patch.
  • Common lawn insects also cause brown patches. A brown patch may not automatically mean disease, as patches can be caused by lawn insects as well, such as white grubs and chinch bugs. Both of these insects will rapidly destroy a lawn without insect control treatments.
  • Quickly remove weeds to prevent them from overtaking the grass. If you see weeds sprouting, it's important to treat for them and remove them so that they don't overtake the grass. Weeds grow much faster than grass and can choke out the lawn without treatment.
  • Overwatering or underwatering a lawn will affect its health. If lawns receive too much or not enough water, it can weaken the grass. Once the grass is weakened, it becomes more susceptible to lawn diseases or insects.

Depending on how badly the lawn is damaged or what damaged it, it could take several years for it to recover.

When you do have damaged grass, our lawn care experts will be able to fix it. We know the best ways to repair grass and create a strong, healthy foundation for your lawn. Keep in mind, however, that these are not rapid fixes. If your lawn was not severely damaged, you could see significant improvements with one year's time. For more severe damage, though, it will take a longer time to recover. Ways we care for your lawn include:

  • Fertilization
  • Weed Control
  • Lawn Insect Control
  • Fungus & Disease Control

Our 7-step lawn care program provides nutrients, weed control, insect control, and disease control treatments. We begin treatment in January and continue treating your lawn throughout the year. If you are looking for a quick way to repair your grass, then the fastest way is to remove your existing lawn and install new sod, but that method can be very costly.
